This article was a thorough waste of time. Floridi took almost 30 pages to chase a topic on which he has no apparent insight. Was he talking about the philosophy of information processing in terms of the brain, or in terms of a formal system? He never seemed to make that important distinction. He winds up asking a number of *deep* philosophical questions, like: "what is information?," and "can information explain meaning." The paper seemed to be one of those self-therapy kinds of essays that philosophers tend to write. It was based on a talk he gave at CMU and I wonder how many people slept through it.
